Reporting is the work, not the overhead
For an organisation running on grants and programme funding, the reporting obligation is a core operational requirement and often the single biggest drain on a small staff. Building the records so the reports fall out of them is a much better trade than building an operational system and then producing reports from it afterwards.
Equipment loans at scale
A medical equipment loan operation with delivery and transport behind it is running a logistics business with no revenue attached to it. Knowing what is out, with whom, and for how long is the whole job, and it is exactly the thing that becomes unmanageable on paper as volume grows.
Sensitivity
Records here frequently concern people in difficult circumstances. Access scoping is not a feature to add later — who can see what has to be part of the design from the start, and it is one of the things we would want to agree before building anything.
